Liberian Community in Rwanda Joins Umuganda Activities in Musanze, Strengthening Bonds with Local Authorities

The Liberian Community in Rwanda (LIBCOR) recently joined local Rwandans in the monthly Umuganda activities, a national community service day, held in the Shingiro sector of Musanze District. This event saw scores of Liberians coming together with the Rwandan community to clean and improve the local area, exemplifying solidarity and civic responsibility.
The president of the Liberian Community in Musanze expressed his gratitude to members who turned out to participate in the Umuganda activities, emphasizing the importance of unity in such community initiatives. "We’re grateful for everyone who came out today to join such an initiative," Theophilus Mac Davis noted, underscoring the impact of their combined efforts.
Chairman of LIBCOR, Emmanuel Patrick, also commended the community for their commitment, acknowledging their decision to prioritize service over personal commitments for the day. In a special address, he highlighted the significance of their involvement in Umuganda, noting that community service is a way of giving back to our environment.
"This is not just about us cleaning the community," Chairman Patrick remarked, "but about integrating ourselves within Rwandan society and building connections with relevant Rwandan authorities. These connections are vital, as they empower us to intervene effectively when Liberians in Rwanda encounter challenges."
Concluding the event, Chairman Patrick encouraged all participants to continue their support for LIBCOR’s initiatives, emphasizing that the strength of the community relies on each member’s contributions. "We want to ask for your support again," he said. "Every one of us has something valuable to offer to the Liberian Community in Rwanda. Our progress depends on our collective efforts and meaningful contributions."
