LIBCOR Hosts Strategic Stakeholders Meeting, Outlines Future Plans for Growth and Calls for Community Involvement

Kigali, Rwanda – On October 5, 2024, the leadership of the Liberian Community in Rwanda (LIBCOR) convened a highly anticipated Strategic Stakeholders Meeting at the organization’s office in Kissimenti, Remera, Kigali. The meeting brought together key members of the National Administrative Council (NAC) alongside several distinguished community stakeholders to discuss recent accomplishments, ongoing projects, and strategic plans for the future.

During the meeting, the National Administrative Council (NAC) announced several recent improvements, including the passage of the Strategic National Plan of Action and Budget and the launching of the community website. An ongoing review of the LIBCOR Constitution was also highlighted, with the goal of aligning the organization's governance structure with current realities. Chairman Patrick shared updates on the NAC recent tour across Rwanda, aimed at strengthening ties with regional Liberian communities and mentioned unity, security and insurance issues as key complaints from community members.

Looking ahead, LIBCOR outlined several major ongoing and upcoming initiatives for the coming months. Among them are ongoing negotiations for partnerships with organizations like the Association of LIberians in India (ALSI), Liberian Students Union in China (LSUIC), Liberian Community in Uganda, Liberian Community in Australia, Organization of Liberians in Minnesota for the purpose of educational opportunities and building stronger tide.

Additionally, LIBCOR plans to organize a nationwide Umuganda exercise on the last Saturday in October 2024 as a means of its involvement into community service and host the All Liberian Festival in December 2024, aimed at celebrating Liberian culture through music, arts, and sports.

Stakeholders at the meeting offered valuable recommendations, including a unified due payment system to streamline member contributions, and a proposal for various community subgroups—such as media, entertainment, and sports—to support LIBCOR's operational budget. There was also a call for the establishment of an Intelligent Bureau to monitor security concerns affecting the Liberian community in Rwanda.

The meeting ended on a note of optimism, with Chairman Patrick expressing confidence in the LIBCOR's ability to grow and serve the community. "Our strength lies in unity, and with these strategic steps, LIBCOR is set for even greater accomplishments in the coming year," he said. The roadmap set during the meeting promises to elevate LIBCOR’s impact both locally and internationally.
